Tips For Choosing Your Twin Baby Carrier

Going anywhere with twins needs a little planning before heading out, which is why we love our range of twin baby carriers. Any twin parent knows the trials and tribulations of transporting two babies around, having the right carrier for your twins can take some of that stress away!

Twin baby carriers have been around in some form or another as long as twins have existed. Usually, they’ve been woven wraps, slings or similar to carry the babies - usually one at a time, however, It is possible to use stretchy wraps as a twin baby carrier. There are plenty of YouTube videos available to show you how.

A sling and pushchair can make life easier but your hands will still be needed on the pushchair.

A twin baby carrier can make such a difference. Free hands, happy babies, and a happy parent. Parents of multiples can often feel trapped at home as twins have their own unique demands. Finding a solution to getting out with your gorgeous babes all together can be a game changer for parents.

How do you choose a twin baby carrier?

The TwinGo baby carrier allows you to carry a baby on your front and one on your back at the same time. The Mini Monkey twin carriers allow the babies to sit more at the front with one on each hip. No more wrestling with double buggies trying to fit them through doorways, open that door and go!

Find one that’s right for you. You don’t want too much weight on your shoulders as you’ll really feel the babies pulling you down, instead find a twin baby carrier that spreads the weight evenly across your torso.

How do you use a twin baby carrier?

Go with the sleepier more chilled baby first! The one who won’t wake up or is quite happy to go with the flow. Pop them into the twin baby carrier first and distract them, as needed, with their favourite toy/blanket/song. This might work with the second twin as you pop them into the other side of the carrier. Secure the babies to your torso, check and check again to ensure everything is fastened correctly and off you go.

Before you leave the house, it’s absolutely essential to make sure you’re completely comfortable and happy wearing the twins. Don’t ignore any niggles or pain. Listen to what your body is telling you. A niggling ache can become a lot worse after just a few minutes of wearing your twins.

There is a difference between your body getting used to using the twin carrier and hurting yourself. Take time to build yourself up to carrying the twins for extended periods of time.

Walk for just a few minutes to start with so that you and the babies get used to the twin baby carrier. Take a partner or friend with you to build your confidence, and get them to bring a sling or pram if you want to take a break.

At some point, the carrier is going to need to come off. It’s good to practice at home before trying this in public. Consider which one to take out first, and try it a few times until you’re comfortable doing it. Being able to take a child out of the carrier confidently is really important.
